TOPIC: WORKING WITH A VISION

Foods for the stomach and the stomach for foods, but God will destroy both it and them. Now the body is not for sexual immorality but for the Lord, and the Lord for the body (1 Corinthians 6:13).

READ: Luke 12:16-20

[16] Then He spoke a parable to them, saying: “The ground of a certain rich man yielded plentifully.

[17] And he thought within himself, saying, ‘What shall I do, since I have no room to store my crops?’

[18] So he said, ‘I will do this: I will pull down my barns and build greater, and there I will store all my crops and my goods.

[19] And I will say to my soul, “Soul, you have many goods laid up for many years; take your ease; eat, drink, and be merry.”’

[20] But God said to him, ‘Fool! This night your soul will be required of you; then whose will those things be which you have provided?’

Vision, in simple terms, refers to your goal, or purpose; what you aim to achieve. Whether you are a trader, civil servant, artisan, businessperson or executive, having a clear goal is crucial.

Without a specific, measurable, achievable, realistic, and time-bound objective, significant accomplishments become unlikely. A life devoid of achievements is essentially wasted, purposeless to both God and humanity.

While it is important to work for personal sustenance, satisfaction and helping others, laboring without a defined goal leads to an unrealistic vision.

In today’s text, we see the foolishness of a wealthy man whose crops yielded abundantly, but who lacked the godly wisdom to utilise the opportunity effectively.

Your life’s goal should go beyond mere indulgence and enjoyment to encompass planning for the future in Christ. Avoid the rich man’s folly; cultivate forward-thinking and achievable life’s goals, pursuing them vigorously until eternity.

1. Lord, grant me a clear vision and the determination to pursue my godly goals in my chosen field.

2. I reject being a waste to my generation, in Jesus’ name.

3. Lord, help me not to indulge in the passions and desires of this world but to fulfil Your good purpose for my life.
