Tension Rises in Ondo as Two University Students Remain Missing

Akure, Ondo State  Fear and uncertainty have gripped the campus of Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba-Akoko, as two 200-level undergraduates have been declared missing for over two weeks.

The missing students, Andrel Okah from the Department of History and International Studies, and John Abba from the Department of Economics, were last seen attending academic activities before they suddenly vanished.

Students say the pair’s disappearance has triggered deep concern. A classmate, who identified himself as Ajibola, described efforts to reach them as fruitless.

“We’ve called their numbers several times nothing. They haven’t attended any class or school activities in weeks,” Ajibola said. “We reported the situation to the school and the police, but no meaningful progress has been made. We’re being told to remain calm, but people are scared.”

Ajibola also revealed that both students were known to be close friends, raising further suspicion that their disappearance might be linked.

While official comments from the university remain scarce, a senior member of the school’s management, who requested anonymity, confirmed the school is working with the police.

“There are several angles to this case. We’re not ruling anything out, especially considering the behaviors of some students on campus. The police are already involved,” the source said.

Efforts to reach the school’s Public Relations Officer, Mr. Victor Akinpelumi, were unsuccessful.

Meanwhile, the Ondo State Police Command has acknowledged the report. The Command’s Public Relations Officer, Ayanlade Olayinka, confirmed that the case is under active investigation.

The university community remains tense, with growing calls for transparency and swift action. As the search continues, friends, family, and fellow students are left with more questions than answers.
