President Tinubu Welcomes Release of 100 Catholic Students, Orders Security Agencies to Rescue Remaining Hostages

President Bola Tinubu has hailed the efforts of Nigeria’s security agencies following the release of 100 students abducted from Papiri Catholic School in Niger State. The president expressed relief at their return and praised the officers who worked to secure their freedom.

In a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, President Tinubu urged the security forces to intensify operations to free the remaining 115 students and their teachers still held captive. He assured families that the Federal Government and the Niger State Government are working together to ensure every abducted child is reunited with their loved ones.

The president recalled receiving updates on the rescue and commended Governor Umar Bago for his cooperation during the crisis. He described the return of the students as a significant step but stressed that the mission is not complete until all victims are home safely.

Tinubu reiterated his directive to the security agencies, insisting that every abducted Nigerian must be accounted for. He restated the government’s commitment to strengthening school security to prevent similar attacks.

He emphasized that children should never again become easy targets for bandits determined to disrupt their education and inflict trauma on families. According to him, collaboration between the security agencies and state governors will be crucial in preventing future kidnappings and restoring confidence in Nigeria’s learning environments.
