Police Rescue Kidnapped Farmers, Bust Crime Rings in Four States

A series of tactical operations by the Nigeria Police Force has led to the rescue of abducted individuals, the arrest of several suspects, and the recovery of weapons across Edo, Delta, Katsina, and Adamawa States.

Force Public Relations Officer, CSP Muyiwa Adejobi, disclosed these developments in a statement on Sunday, highlighting the coordinated efforts of officers and local security networks.

In Edo State, two farmers  Godday Irieude and Wisdom Emeka  who were seized from their farmland in Ewatto on June 26, were rescued unharmed. According to police, the kidnappers opened fire when they saw security forces approaching, but fled the scene after a gun battle. The victims were safely recovered after the confrontation.

In Delta State, a targeted raid in Mosogar led to the arrest of two suspected cultists, Koko Josh and Asomugha Clinton. Officers recovered firearms, ammunition, and various electronic items. Investigations expanded with the arrest of Anthony Kelvin and Gift Amotsuka, all of whom were identified as members of the Aiye confraternity.

Elsewhere in Delta, police intercepted two more suspects, Ekene Chroma and Okafor Jonathan, in Okpanam. Two English-made firearms and over 100 rounds of ammunition were seized. Authorities believe the pair supplied weapons to criminal gangs operating in the region.

In Katsina, operatives from the Force Intelligence Department’s Response Team arrested a 40-year-old man, Yunusa Ishaku, in Funtua. He was caught with two stolen vehicles  a Toyota Camry and a Toyota Hiace. Police say Ishaku confessed to being part of a syndicate responsible for moving stolen cars from Nigerian cities to Niger Republic.

Further leads from his confession helped locate three other stolen vehicles in Bauchi and Zamfara states.

In a separate operation in Adamawa State, officers arrested 52-year-old Alhaji Iya Bima. One AK-47 rifle, multiple magazines, and dozens of rounds of live ammunition were recovered from his hideout. Interrogation led to more weapons being uncovered, including another rifle and additional ammunition.

CSP Adejobi confirmed that all arrested suspects will face legal action once investigations are completed.

The Nigeria Police reiterated its commitment to dismantling criminal networks and urged citizens to report suspicious activities in their communities.
