Pastor Eneche Questions Real Motive Behind Kwara Abduction
The abduction of worshippers from a small church in Kwara State has continued to stir strong emotions across the country. Many Nigerians are still struggling to understand why armed men would strike a rural place of worship. Among those speaking out is the Senior Pastor of Dunamis International Gospel Centre, Pastor Paul Eneche, who believes the attack was never about money. According to him, the motive behind the violence is already exposed and points to something deeper.
Pastor Eneche raised his concern during a church service where he invited a member of the Dunamis Choir to share her family’s ordeal. Her elder sister, her nephew and many others were among those taken on 18 November when armed men invaded a Christian gathering of the Christ Apostolic Church. The attack left three people dead and one person seriously injured before the gunmen marched away dozens of worshippers.
The pastor questioned openly what anyone seeking money would gain from attacking a struggling rural church. He argued that the community has very limited resources and could not meet any large ransom. According to him, those who target money know exactly where to go, and a small congregation in a quiet village is not such a place. He insisted that the motive was not financial and that the real intention behind the attack has already been revealed.

The choir member’s account added weight to his concerns. She explained that the gunmen surrounded the church before they began to shoot. People tried to run but many were trapped. Her nephew, a young graduate preparing for the next stage of his life, was taken away along with her sister and many others. Her emotions showed as she described the fear that remains in the community.
Pastor Eneche said the attack carried a spiritual meaning. He spoke of a demonic force behind the violence and assured the congregation that such darkness would be defeated. He urged believers to pray and stay alert, saying the country cannot afford to relax while violence continues to rise.
The incident has deepened fear across many rural communities already struggling with insecurity. Some villages have stopped holding late evening services. Others have formed watch groups. Despite these efforts, the threat remains real and the pain of loss continues to spread.
Families of the abducted worshippers are still waiting for news. Some have heard from the kidnappers. Others wait in silence, hoping for their loved ones to return home safely.
Pastor Eneche’s comments reflect the growing worry that the crisis facing the nation may be more than crime alone. Many Nigerians believe the attacks now touch on faith, values and peace. He urged the government and security agencies to act quickly, saying every community deserves safety.
As the search continues, the affected families hold on to hope. The nation watches, prays and waits for justice, rescue and peace to return.
