Pastor Biodun Fatoyinbo Apologizes to Christ Apostolic Church Over Comments on Apostle Ayo Babalola

The Global Senior Pastor of the Commonwealth of Zion Assembly (COZA), Pastor Biodun Fatoyinbo, has publicly apologized to the Christ Apostolic Church (CAC) and the family of the late Apostle Joseph Ayo Babalola over statements he made during a sermon that recently went viral.

In a press release dated August 14, 2025, Fatoyinbo acknowledged the concerns raised by CAC in their official statement regarding his comments, clarifying that his words were misconstrued and not intended to cast the revered Apostle or his family in a negative light.

“I appreciate the fact that a church I personally love, admire, and respect would be so kind and magnanimous enough to address the issues which have been misconstrued in an exemplary Christian manner,” Fatoyinbo stated.

The COZA pastor described Apostle Babalola as a “distinguished father of faith in Nigeria and indeed all over the world,” noting that many churches in the country draw their spiritual DNA from his ministry. He emphasized that he is a direct beneficiary of the Apostle’s grace and legacy.

Addressing the controversy, Fatoyinbo maintained that at no point did he speak ill of the Apostle’s children, stressing that they are “shining examples of generational impact” and role models for children of visionaries.

“I will never disrespect or speak of them in that manner either publicly or privately,” he assured.

The COZA leader further expressed gratitude for CAC’s admonition and correction, describing himself as “a child who grew up in the church” and someone who would never take Apostle Babalola’s ministry for granted.

Concluding his statement, Pastor Fatoyinbo tendered an unreserved apology to the CAC, the Babalola family, and associates of the late revivalist for any hurt or misunderstanding his sermon may have caused.

“I pray that this puts to rest the entire episode and we pray that the CAC and the legacy of our father Apostle Joseph Ayo Babalola continues to grow in leaps and bounds,” he said.

Apostle Joseph Ayo Babalola, the first General Evangelist of CAC, is widely regarded as a pioneer of the Pentecostal revival movement in Nigeria. His ministry, marked by miracles and massive evangelistic campaigns, has left a lasting imprint on the Nigerian church landscape.
