Oyedepo: Diligence, Not Prayer Alone, Secures Success

Bishop David Oyedepo, founder of Living Faith Church Worldwide, also known as Winners’ Chapel, has emphasized that prayer alone is not a guarantee for success unless it is backed with diligence, discipline, and responsibility.

Speaking on the principles of Christian living, Oyedepo explained that it is not enough for believers to know the scriptures or receive divine instructions; they must also put in the required effort to see God’s promises fulfilled in their lives.

“You can pray till the end of time. If you are not diligent, you cannot succeed. If you are not disciplined, you cannot be distinguished,” the cleric stated, stressing that success in the Christian faith is tied to both spiritual devotion and practical responsibility.

According to him, Christianity is not a make-believe religion but a covenant walk that demands commitment to God’s instructions and the willingness to apply oneself. He noted that many believers often take these principles for granted, choosing to rely solely on prayer while neglecting the practical actions required to produce results.

God ceases to be God, His instructions remain valid, ” Oyedepo declared, adding that divine laws governing success are eternal and unchanging. He further explained that every instruction from God is designed to position His people for excellence, but the benefits can only be realized when believers combine faith with hard work.

The bishop urged Christians to rise above a one-sided approach to spirituality. While prayer is essential, he said, it must be complemented with diligence, discipline, and a readiness to meet the demands of success in daily life.

He concluded by encouraging the faithful not to confuse spirituality with passivity. True success, Oyedepo noted, comes when prayer, obedience, and consistent effort work together to deliver lasting results.
