Mitch Glaser Urges Global Prayer as Iran Launches Deadly Missile Strikes on Israel
As a new wave of missile attacks from Iran strikes Israeli cities, Mitch Glaser, president of Chosen People Ministries, is urging Christians around the world to pray for Israel and for 60 members of his team currently in the country.
The group, which includes Glaser, his wife, and ministry staff, had travelled to Tel Aviv for the dedication of a new ministry facility. However, it remains unclear if the event took place before the attacks began.
“Pray for the peace of Jerusalem,” Glaser said in a statement posted on the ministry’s website Monday. “We have a group of sixty faithful friends in Israel right now… please pray for the safety of Israel, the safety of its people, and the safety of our team at the dedication.”
The deadly escalation began Friday after Israel launched a preemptive air and drone strike on Iranian nuclear and military sites. The assault targeted Iranian generals and scientists in what Israel described as an effort to eliminate a growing threat.
“Iran was manufacturing the material that could be used for nuclear bombs,” Glaser explained in an earlier statement. “So Israel had to act. They took out some of these factories and key military leaders.”
Since then, Iranian missiles have killed at least eight people in Israel and injured dozens more. According to CNN, the death toll in Israel has reached 24, with 592 wounded. In Iran, 224 people have reportedly been killed in retaliatory strikes.
Glaser shared on social media that his team had been evacuated from their hotel at least twice due to incoming missile threats. Despite the dangers, he emphasised the continued mission of Chosen People Ministries in Israel.
“Though they are suffering along with all Israelis because of these difficult circumstances, they continue to serve the Lord and lift up the Messiah to Jewish people, particularly to Jewish Israelis,” he said.
Chosen People Ministries, founded in 1894, is one of the oldest and largest Messianic Jewish organisations in the United States. It is dedicated to sharing the Gospel with Jewish communities worldwide. Glaser said fewer than 1% of Jewish people globally believe in Jesus and stressed the need for continued outreach.
He urged Christians not only to pray for peace in the region but also to reach out to Jewish friends, coworkers, and classmates with compassion and a message of hope.
“Pray for us,” Glaser said. “Pray for the peace of Jerusalem; pray for a Jewish person you know who doesn’t know the Lord. Let them know you care about them and the nation of Israel.”
Tensions between Israel and Iran have sharply escalated since Friday’s preemptive Israeli strike. Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi condemned the attack and accused Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu of deliberately sabotaging diplomatic efforts.
In a statement posted to X on Monday, Araqchi called Netanyahu a “wanted war criminal” and claimed his military actions were aimed at undermining a potential deal between Iran and the United States.
“Netanyahu’s criminal attack on Iran, killing hundreds of innocent civilians, including women and children, is meant to scuttle a deal,” Araqchi argued. “He is playing yet another American president… for absolute fools.”
He further alleged that a single phone call from former U.S. President Donald Trump could end the hostilities. “If President Trump is genuine about diplomacy… it takes one phone call from Washington to muzzle someone like Netanyahu,” Araqchi said. “That may pave the way for a return to diplomacy.”
Meanwhile, the Israeli Defence Forces confirmed that military operations would continue.
In a Monday update, the IDF said the Israeli Air Force had targeted a communication centre used by Iranian forces under the guise of civilian activity. “Prior to the strike, the IDF provided an effective advanced warning to the civilian population… to mitigate harm,” the statement read.
As both sides brace for further conflict, Glaser’s call for prayer grows increasingly urgent. “This is a spiritual moment as much as it is a military one,” he said. “Please keep praying.”
