McGregor Declares Faith in Christ Before UFC Return
UFC star Conor McGregor says he has given his life to Christ, describing his renewed faith as part of a “spiritual journey” that has reshaped his outlook on life and sport.
The former lightweight champion, set to return to competition after an 18-month suspension for missing drug tests, made the declaration during a pre-fight press conference.
“I am not here by chance; there is a higher power God who dictates my journey and all of our journeys,” McGregor said. “I live my life by God’s word. I’ve engaged on a spiritual moment, and the Lord has saved me. I am healed.”
McGregor’s statement marks a dramatic turn in a career often defined by controversy and confrontation. In July, he lost a civil appeal over a sexual assault claim and was ordered to pay £206,000 plus legal costs to Nikita Hand, who accused him of rape in a Dublin hotel in 2018.

Hand said the case and its appeal had been “retraumatizing,” adding, “To every survivor out there, I know how hard it is, but please, don’t be silenced.”
Despite his past troubles, McGregor says he has spent recent months reflecting inward and rebuilding his life.
Dave Feldman, founder of the Bare-Knuckle Fighting Championship, praised McGregor’s transformation, saying the fighter had made “the kind of changes he had to make.”
“A lot of people need to make changes in their life and don’t, because they lack the courage,” Feldman said. “I want to commend Conor it’s not easy.”
In January, McGregor appeared at a pre-inauguration event hosted by the conservative Christian group Turning Point USA, reinforcing his growing connection to faith-based communities.
As McGregor prepares for his UFC comeback, his public declaration of faith signals a new chapter one defined, he says, by redemption and purpose.
