Kazeem Sanusi Sets New Math Lesson Guinness World Record
History was made at the University of Ilorin as 400-level mathematics student Kazeem Sanusi etched his name into the Guinness World Records by delivering the longest mathematics lesson ever recorded, lasting an impressive 31 hours, 42 minutes, and 54 seconds.
The groundbreaking academic marathon took place in the university’s lecture halls, where a team from Guinness World Records was on hand to witness and verify the attempt. Student Kazeem lesson not only surpassed the previous record of 26 hours but also showcased the strength of endurance, intellect, and determination.
The event turned into a celebration of scholarly brilliance and youthful resilience, drawing large crowds of students, faculty, and guests who came to cheer and lend their energy to the milestone. The atmosphere throughout the over-a-day-long session was electric, with musical interludes, motivational speeches, and moments of cheer to keep spirits high.
Present to witness the historic feat were top university dignitaries, including the Vice Chancellor, Professor Wahab Egbewole (SAN); Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Management Services), Professor Adegboyega Fawole; Registrar, Mr. Mansur Alfanla; Dean of Physical Sciences, Professor Abdullahi Alafara Baba; Acting Dean of Student Affairs, Dr. Alex Akanmu; and Student Union President, Comrade Victor Agezeh, among others.
Speaking shortly after the record-breaking session, Professor Egbewole described the achievement as a “moment of immense pride” for the institution.
“We are immensely proud of the feat achieved by Kazeem. His commitment, drive, and brilliance reflect the kind of academic excellence we promote here at the University of Ilorin. We believe in nurturing talents and creating an environment where students can pursue their dreams and go as far as possible,” he said.
An exhausted but elated Kazeem expressed heartfelt gratitude to his supporters and the university community. He emphasized his hope that this achievement would encourage fellow youths to dream big, stay focused, and push their boundaries.
“This was more than just about mathematics,” Kazeem Sanusi shared. “It was about perseverance and showing that with the right mindset, anything is possible. I hope this inspires others to take bold steps in whatever field they are passionate about.”
