John Wesley – A Hero of Faith

John Wesley was an English preacher, theologian, and founder of the Methodist movement. Though raised in a Christian home, it was at the age of 35 that he had a life-changing experience, realizing salvation is by grace through faith alone. This personal encounter with Christ ignited in him an unquenchable passion to spread the Gospel.

Wesley preached in churches, fields, and marketplaces, often delivering two or three sermons a day. He covered over 250,000 miles on horseback and preached more than 40,000 sermons in his lifetime. His message was simple yet powerful salvation through Jesus Christ, the call to holy living, and the necessity of a personal relationship with God.

His work sparked revivals in England and America, transforming thousands of lives. Through his leadership, small group fellowships (Methodist societies) were formed, emphasizing Bible study, accountability, and service to others. Wesley’s ministry helped reduce crime rates, improve literacy, and inspire social reforms such as prison ministry and care for the poor.
