Joseph Ayo Babalola University (JABU), Ikeji-Arakeji, Osun State, has honoured its top performers with a combined cash prize of N29 million. The reward, announced during the university’s convocation ceremony, recognises exceptional academic brilliance in the 2024/2025 session.

Blessing Agboola, a Medical Laboratory Science student, emerged as the overall best graduating student with a CGPA of 4.93.
Fakolujo also highlighted major academic milestones. The Vice-Chancellor announced that 871 students graduated this year, including 729 first-degree graduates and 142 postgraduate students. He described the 57 first-class graduates as “among Nigeria’s finest young minds.” He added that more than half of the graduating class earned upper-division honours, reinforcing JABU’s reputation for academic excellence.
Chancellor Adegbulugbe, in his address, described higher education as a driver of national development. He stressed that universities must shape graduates who combine innovation with strong moral values, especially in a world experiencing technological and environmental shifts. He said JABU is focused on grooming thinkers, ethical leaders and responsible citizens.
The institution’s visitor, Pastor Samuel Oladele, President of the Apostolic Church Nigeria and Overseas, urged the graduating students to define success by impact, not status. He encouraged them to use their knowledge productively and to remain humble, noting that every achievement should be credited to God.
The event reinforced JABU’s growing profile as Nigeria’s pioneering entrepreneurial university and a centre committed to excellence, value-driven leadership and societal transformation.
