Pastor Sam Adeyemi has never hidden the fact that the birth of Daystar Christian Centre came with remarkable encounters. Yet among all the defining moments, one story stands out. It is the account of how God divinely arranged his first meeting with Bishop David Oyedepo. The timing was precise. The details were startling. And the impact would shape his ministry for decades.

The story began quietly. Pastor Nike was attending the Word of Faith Bible Institute as part of their preparation for ministry. Her schedule was intense. She left home early each morning and returned in the evening. Pastor Sam recalls that on a particular Monday, soon after she left for class, he remained at home praying in the Spirit.

As he prayed, something unusual happened. He described it as though the Holy Spirit pressed the play button in his imagination. It was vivid. It played like a real scene. He saw Pastor Nike walking through a door at the Bible Institute. At the same moment, Bishop Oyedepo was stepping out. They met. They exchanged greetings. And in that vision, Bishop Oyedepo sent for him.

When the prayer ended, he smiled. It felt like a wish. A desire expressed before God. He did not know how it would happen or when. He only knew what he saw.

Two days later, on Wednesday evening, Pastor Nike returned home with excitement. She said, “Guess who I met today.” He asked who it was. Her answer stunned him. She said she met Bishop Oyedepo. She explained that she was trying to walk into the Dean’s office while he was coming out. They greeted each other. The moment unfolded exactly as he saw it during prayer.

But there was more. Bishop Oyedepo asked about their former church. She gently explained that they had left. He then said something that left her in awe. He told his personal assistant, “Tell Pastor Sam Adeyemi to see me on Friday.”

Pastor Sam said he felt humbled. It was confirmation. It was divine arrangement.

The bishop explained that guest speakers can draw crowds, but when they leave, the crowd leaves with them. Then he gave the counsel that pierced straight to Pastor Sam’s core. He asked, “Why don’t you become the person people want to listen to?”

Pastor Sam said he never forgot that statement. It stirred something inside him. It made him realise he needed to grow, develop, and become the voice God designed him to be.

For thirty years, Bishop Oyedepo and his wife have remained a consistent pillar for Pastor Sam and Pastor Nike. The relationship has been one of mentorship, love, and genuine spiritual covering. Pastor Sam often says he could spend an entire day recounting moments, instructions, and encouragement Bishop Oyedepo gave them. Many of those words came to pass in prophetic ways. Others shaped the foundation of Daystar Christian Centre.

Today, as Daystar celebrates its 30th anniversary, this story shines with fresh meaning. It reminds believers that destiny connections do not happen randomly. God orchestrates them. The right voices appear at the right time. And when they speak, their words steer the course of purpose.

Pastor Sam’s journey shows how a single divine encounter can change a life. It shows the value of humility and the strength of spiritual fatherhood. It also shows the beauty of obedience.
