The flood, which struck Mokwa Local Government Area earlier this week, led to the loss of lives and destruction of properties valued at millions of naira. The NGF chairman emphasized the need for improved disaster management, linking the incident to the growing threat of climate change.
He reaffirmed the forum’s commitment to working closely with national emergency response agencies, including the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) and the Office of the National Security Adviser, to strengthen disaster preparedness and deliver long-term relief to affected communities.
Prayers were offered for the souls of the departed and for the comfort of grieving families. The NGF also called on the public to support ongoing relief efforts and cooperate fully with response teams operating in the affected areas.
