FG Launches Real-Time Online Classes for Secondary Schools

The Federal Ministry of Education has introduced the Inspire Live(s) Online Real-Time Classes Initiative, a nationwide digital learning program designed to broaden access to quality education for students across Nigeria.

In a statement on Tuesday, the ministry’s Director of Press and Public Relations, Folasade Boriowo, described the initiative as a major step toward ensuring equitable learning opportunities for every Nigerian child. She added that the program aligns with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda for the education sector.

According to the ministry, the initiative was developed to address persistent challenges such as shortages of qualified teachers and frequent disruptions to academic activities. By providing live, interactive lessons directly to students, Inspire Live(s) aims to “democratize access to quality education, ensuring no child is left behind regardless of location or circumstance.”

For now, the platform offers classes for JSS and SSS students, held Monday to Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., and taught by certified master teachers using Cisco Webex.

Subjects available for Junior Secondary School students include English Language, Mathematics, Basic Science, ICT, Basic Technology, Agricultural Science, Civic Education, French, History, Religious Studies, Business Studies, and Physical Education.

For Senior Secondary School, the timetable features Mathematics, English Language, Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Economics, Geography, Agricultural Science, Automobile Mechanics, Civic Education, and Technical Drawing or Catering Craft.

To ensure smooth nationwide participation, the ministry has directed all state Commissioners for Education to nominate State Focal Officers, share program details with school principals, and equip designated schools with essential ICT tools and internet connectivity.

The statement emphasized that participation is open to both public and private schools, and registration will be handled exclusively by school principals through the official Inspire support channels.
