Faith and Diplomacy Unite in African-Israeli Visit

A high-level delegation of African Christian leaders has arrived in Israel for a four-day visit aimed at deepening ties between African churches and the Jewish state.

The group, made up of about 30 senior religious figures from 10 African countries, includes bishops, priests, and church leaders from Ethiopia, Kenya, Mozambique, Angola, Uganda, and other nations. Together, they represent millions of worshippers across the continent.

The visit was organized at the invitation of Israel’s Deputy Foreign Minister Sharren Haskel, who emphasized the importance of strengthening bonds with Africa’s Christian community.

“The Christian community in Africa stands with Israel,” Haskel said. “Building these relationships is one of the best ways to counter the spread of radical Islam and jihadism on the continent. Strengthening our ties with these leaders reinforces Israel’s position in Africa through shared faith and enduring values.”

During the visit, the delegation will tour several biblical and historical sites, including Jerusalem, Hebron, ancient Shiloh, the western Negev, and Nuba. They will also meet with President Isaac Herzog and senior officials from the Israeli Foreign Ministry.

The visit underscores Israel’s growing outreach to Africa through faith-based diplomacy, recognizing the deep influence of Christianity across the continent. African church leaders have long expressed solidarity with Israel, citing shared spiritual heritage and biblical history rooted in the Holy Land.

Observers say the trip could further boost Israel’s engagement with African nations by building people-to-people connections and fostering cooperation on education, faith, and humanitarian initiatives.
