Evangel University Launches Global AGTS Program

Evangel University in Springfield has announced a major step forward in its mission to equip ministry leaders around the world. Through the Assemblies of God Theological Seminary AGTS the institution has unveiled AGTS International a new online initiative aimed at breaking educational barriers and offering advanced theological training to students across continents.

This development marks a significant moment for the Assemblies of God as it strengthens its commitment to accessible ministry preparation for pastor’s church workers and Christian leaders who often face financial or geographical limitations.

A Vision for Global Ministry Training

Announced through AG News the AGTS International initiative focuses on providing high quality Pentecostal theological education to students who may not have access to traditional seminary programs. Wade Mumm the seminary vice president explained that the goal is to extend the depth of AGTS teaching to leaders already serving their communities worldwide.

According to Mumm the new program allows the seminary to invest in men and women who are shaping the future of the Church in diverse environments. Many leaders in developing regions rely heavily on practical experience but often lack formal theological training. AGTS International intends to bridge that gap.

Fully Online Programs for Global Accessibility

The first programs to launch under AGTS International include the Master of Leadership and Ministry and the Doctor of Ministry degrees. Both will be available in English and Spanish which allows students from Latin America Africa Europe and Asia to participate in a language that meets their needs.

All classes are delivered completely online. This ensures that students can continue serving their congregations and communities without leaving their families employment or local ministry responsibilities. The programs are structured to fit into real life schedules making advanced theological education possible for bi vocational pastors and ministry volunteers.

The initiative goes further by offering regionally adjusted tuition rates for non-United States students making the programs more affordable in lower income nations. This financial approach reflects the commitment of AGTS to build an inclusive and global learning community.

Mentoring Faculty Support and Contextual Learning

AGTS International emphasizes mentoring and academic guidance to help students feel connected despite the online format. Faculty members work closely with learners many of whom serve in challenging ministry contexts such as rural villages inner city areas or regions affected by conflict.

Students also engage with classmates from various cultural backgrounds creating a diverse environment where ministry insights and experiences are shared. This multicultural approach enriches learning and encourages leaders to apply theological principles in ways that respect and uplift their local cultures.

Mumm noted that every ministry practitioner deserves access to solid scriptural training that honors cultural realities rather than imposing a one size fits all approach. The courses are designed to strengthen ministry skills while encouraging contextually relevant leadership.

Strengthening the Global Mission of the Assemblies of God

The Assemblies of God sees the new initiative as a key step in supporting its global mission. As the church continues to grow rapidly in regions like Africa South America and parts of Asia leaders need theological education that is both rigorous and reachable. AGTS International aims to meet that need by combining academic excellence with practical ministry development.

AG News highlighted that the initiative positions the seminary at the forefront of global theological education. Through this expansion AGTS is helping shape future pastor’s missionaries chaplains educators and ministry innovators across continents.

Enrollment and the Future of AGTS International

Enrollment for the first AGTS International cohort will begin in fall 2026. The seminary expects significant interest from leaders who have long sought opportunities for advanced theological study but lacked the resources or flexibility to enroll in traditional programs.

Evangel University which celebrated its seventieth anniversary in October continues to strengthen its reputation as a center for faith-based education. Since opening its doors in September 1955, the university has maintained a mission to integrate faith learning and life for all students.

AGTS International marks another major step in that mission offering new possibilities for ministry leaders who seek to deepen their understanding of Scripture leadership and Christian service.
