ERIO POWER EXPLOSION 2025: Christian Armour By Pastor R.O. Amure
DAY ONE ERIO POWER EXPLOSION 2025
Text: Ephesians 6:10–18
Dear Believer, may I ask you a few heart-searching questions?
Do you sometimes wonder why the heaviness remains, even after you’ve poured out your heart in sincere prayer? Why does it seem that the more you seek to walk in righteousness, the more resistance you face from life? Are you growing weary from battles that never seem to let up? Does it feel like the enemy waits to attack right when you’re most vulnerable?
Beloved, these are not just ordinary struggles. This is spiritual warfare.
You are not weak; you may just be unarmed.
God never intended for His children to face life’s battles exposed or defenceless. That’s why He gave us something precious: the full armour of God. This is not just to survive, but to stand, to fight, and to overcome.
So, I ask you again: Are you truly dressed for battle?
Today, we’ll walk through what this armour is, why it matters, and how putting it on daily can transform your spiritual life. Because in this war between good and evil, between light and darkness, you are not just a bystander. You are a soldier.
Let’s get equipped.
What Does It Mean to Be a Christian?
Before we talk about the armour, let’s understand the word, Christian. Interestingly, the word “Christian” only appears three times in the Bible: Acts 11:26, Acts 26:28, and 1 Peter 4:16. Yet it carries great weight.
A Christian is:
- A follower of Jesus Christ, male or female, from any tribe or nation
- Someone whose life reflects the character of Christ
- A person called out of the world to live a heavenly-minded life
- A disciple whose daily lifestyle points people to God
Simply put, a Christian is more than just a church-goer. It’s someone truly living for Christ.
What Is An Armour?
In simple terms, armour is protection, something worn by soldiers during battle. We see an example in 1 Samuel 17:38 when Saul dressed David in his armour before he went to fight Goliath. Though David didn’t use it, the idea is clear—armour is for defence.
However, the armour of God is not just physical. It’s spiritual. It doesn’t come from man but from God’s own armoury. As Jeremiah 50:25 says, “The Lord has opened His armoury and brought out the weapons of His wrath.”
This means we don’t fight spiritual battles with physical weapons. Instead, we rely on God’s strength, God’s word, and God’s power.
Why Do Christians Need Armour?
According to Ephesians 6:10–11, Paul urges us to “Put on the whole armour of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.” We live in a world filled with both visible and invisible battles. Satan is always looking for whom to attack.
Here’s why you need to wear God’s armour every day:
- Life is a spiritual war. You can’t afford to be unarmed.
- Satan is cunning and always planning new tricks.
- God’s armour helps us defend ourselves and also fight back spiritually.
David’s Example: Trusting God’s Armour
Remember when David was about to face Goliath? He was offered Saul’s armour but refused it for three reasons:
- It was too heavy for him.
- Saul himself didn’t use it to face Goliath.
- David trusted God’s invisible armour more than man-made weapons.
And what happened? David won the battle with a sling, a stone, and unshakable faith in God.
The Full Armour of God (Ephesians 6:14–18)
Here’s what makes up the Christian Armour:
- The Belt of Truth– Be honest, hold on to God’s truth.
- The Breastplate of Righteousness– Live right before God and people.
- The Gospel of Peace on Your Feet– Be ready to share the Good News.
- The Shield of Faith– Trust God and stop every arrow from the enemy.
- The Helmet of Salvation– Protect your mind with the assurance of your salvation.
- The Sword of the Spirit– Use God’s Word as your weapon against evil.
- Pray Always– Prayer is the power that activates every part of the armour.
Each part is important. Leave one out, and you’re exposed to the enemy. But when fully dressed, you are prepared to stand, fight, and win.

A Call to Stay Spiritually Awake
The Bible warns us in 1 Peter 5:8 (NIV), “Be alert and of sober mind. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour.”
Just like Gideon in Judges 8, we must be wise and strike before the enemy expects it. Let’s never grow tired or careless in our walk with God.
Two powerful hymns remind us of this truth:
“Christian, seek not yet repose; hear thy guardian angel say, thou art in the midst of foes; watch and pray.” (Gospel Hymns 768)
“Soldier of Christ, arise, and put your armour on. Strong in the strength which God supplies, through His eternal Son.” (Hymn 725)
You are a soldier for Christ. Don’t take off your armour. The world may look peaceful, but spiritually, a war is raging. Stay alert, pray always, and trust God’s power.
As we pursue this year’s Mega Theme: Power Over Evil, may the Lord equip us with His full armour, strengthen us for every battle, and give us victory on every side.
