Don’t Let Sentiment Keep You Stagnant – A Lesson from Apostle Femi Lazarus

“If you let sentiment rule your life, you will continue to remain stagnant. There are certain things you cannot become until you sáree—run!”  Apostle Femi Lazarus.

This powerful statement carries a timeless truth about growth, destiny, and the courage to move forward. Too often, people remain trapped in the same position in life because of fear, comfort zones, or emotional attachments. Sentiment can make us hold onto situations, relationships, or habits that no longer serve our future.

The mentality you met on the ground will also try to control your life. It will attempt to dictate your choices, even to the point of deciding who you marry. But you must learn to fight. You cannot break negative patterns until you rise up, confront them, and declare: “I will not make your choices.” As you grow older, you may discover that those familiar patterns are the easiest paths to follow. That is why breaking free requires intentionality, courage, and determination.

The reality is that destiny does not wait for those who hesitate. If you want to become all that God has designed you to be, you must learn to run with purpose. Just like Apostle Femi Lazarus emphasizes, there are heights you can never reach until you break free and take decisive steps.

Running is symbolic of urgency and determination. It means refusing to procrastinate, refusing to be tied down by excuses, and refusing to settle for less than God’s best. When you choose to “run,” you are declaring that your future is too important to be delayed by emotions or distractions.

Great men and women in history achieved remarkable things because they made hard decisions. They let go of comfort, faced their fears, and pursued vision with passion. If they had allowed sentiment or family patterns to rule their choices, they would have remained in the shadows instead of stepping into greatness.

So, take this as a wake-up call: it’s time to run. Run towards your dreams. Run towards your purpose. Run into the future God has prepared for you. Stagnation ends the moment you stop letting sentiment dictate your life.
