EXPOSITION

It is essential to be committed to one’s words and actions rather than just talking. Jesus emphasised the importance of being honest and straightforward, in His teachings, stating that anything less than that comes from the evil one (Matt. 5:37). This means being proactive, avoiding pleasing people, and being known for both talking and doing.

Many individuals make promises they can’t keep, harming their identity, personality and integrity. Those with integrity should honour their commitments, regardless of the difficulty (Psa. 15:4). It is important to be someone who follows through/up his words and avoids becoming known as the person who frequently apologises for not keeping their promises.

When making pledges, or vows to the Lord. It is crucial to honour them and fulfil them (Psa. 76:11). Failing to keep these promises can hinder blessings and dishonour God. It is wiser not to make vows than to make them and not fulfil them (Eccl. 5:4). It is better to commit firmly to being consistent in both words and actions, and earnestly strive to “Do What You Say!”

PRAYER POINTS

1. With God’s help, I resist breaking promises, today.

2. I receive grace to keep my promises, in Jesus’ name.

3. Pray for CAC Orekoya Region, our father in the Lord, the Regional Superintendent, and other officers at the various levels as led by the Spirit of God.
