Sanwo-Olu Applauds Cherubim and Seraphim Church at 100th Anniversary
Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has praised the Cherubim and Seraphim Church for its role in shaping communities and supporting nation-building over the last century.
The governor, represented by his Chief of Staff, Tayo Ayinde, spoke at the centenary celebration held at Tafawa Balewa Square, Lagos. He described the church as a trusted partner in driving social impact and promoting the values of service and unity.
Sanwo-Olu commended the church’s community projects, which include humanitarian aid, education support, clean water initiatives, and outreach programs in underserved areas. According to him, these efforts align with the state government’s vision of inclusive growth and better living standards for residents.

He congratulated the leadership and members of the church, urging them to continue building on their legacy of faith and service. The governor also expressed optimism that the next 100 years would bring greater impact and divine purpose.
At the gala and award night, the Iya Aladura General of the church, Oluwaseye Yomi-Sholoye, emphasized the need to invest more in young people. She described the youth as the future of both the church and the country, stressing that education and empowerment must remain a top priority.
Sholoye, who was honored for her humanitarian work, noted that the church is now more focused on evangelism while also placing strong emphasis on the welfare and development of young members. She encouraged young people to remain steadfast in faith and committed to excellence in their chosen fields.
The celebration marked a milestone in the history of the Cherubim and Seraphim Church, which has become a significant voice in Nigeria’s religious and social landscape.
