Apostle Suleman: ‘You’re Sick to Ask Why Pastors Aren’t Speaking’

Apostle Johnson Suleman, the General Overseer of Omega Fire Ministries, has taken a firm stance against those who often accuse Christian pastors of silence whenever terrorism or violent attacks erupt across Nigeria.

Speaking during a recent church service, Suleman called it unfair and illogical for people to blame pastors each time the nation faces fresh security challenges.

He argued that such criticism completely overlooks the fact that Christian leaders have no affiliation with the groups responsible for the violence.

“You see all the attacks happening now. Immediately something occurs, they start saying, ‘Why are pastors not talking?’ You are sick,” he said, visibly displeased.

Suleman maintained that questions about terrorism should be directed toward leaders of the religious groups linked to the perpetrators not pastors who have no connection to those acts.

“Have you ever heard someone shout ‘praise the Lord’ before pulling a trigger?” he asked the congregation. “When these attackers kill, what do they shout?”

The worshippers replied, “Allahu Akbar.”

“Is that a Christian expression? So why are you calling pastors?” he continued.

While acknowledging that pastors may speak out on national issues in the interest of humanity, Suleman insisted that they should not be treated as the first line of accountability for crimes committed by individuals outside the Christian faith. Instead, he said public scrutiny should begin within the religious communities associated with the perpetrators.
