TOPIC: OUR CONFIDENCE

MEMORISE

These things I have written to you who believe in the name of the Son of God, that you may know that you have eternal life, and that you may continue to believe in the God (1 John 5:13-14).

READ: 1 John 5:12-15

[12]. He who has the Son has life; he who does not have the Son of God does not have life.

[13]. These things I have written to you who believe in the name of the Son of God, that you may know that you have eternal life, and that you may continue to believe in the name of the Son of God.

[14]. Now this is the confidence that we have in Him, that if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us.

[15]. And if we know that He hears us, whatever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we have asked of Him.

EXPOSITION

Christianity is a rational faith founded on the testimonies of those who encountered the historical Jesus. Their experiences provide us with confidence in eternal life and the power of answered prayers. Our anchor scripture today affirms the believer’s assurance in these promises. John writes, _He who has the Son has life; he who does not have the Son of God does not have life_ (1 Jn. 5:12). This clear statement underscores the importance of Jesus in our faith. Through Him, we are assured of eternal life. V. 13 further strengthens this assurance I write these things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God so that you may know that you have eternal life. This knowledge is not based on uncertainty but is a certainty from God Himself.

Additionally, vv. 14,15 remind us of the power of prayer and the confidence we can have when approaching God. We are encouraged to pray boldly knowing that He hears and answers according to His will. Our relationship with God is rooted in His love and the sacrifice of Jesus. With this confidence, we are empowered to live boldly, pray fervently and trust fully in God’s promises.

1. I have found a Friend in Jesus,

He’s the everything to me,

He’s the fairest of ten thousand to my soul;

The lily of the valley, in Him alone I see

And I need to cleanse and make me fully whole.

In sorrow He’s my comfort in trouble He’s my stay,

He tells me every care on

Him to roll:

He’s the lily of the valley,

The Bright and Morning star,

He’s the fairest of ten thousand to my soul

Chorus:

In sorrow he’s my comfort,

In trouble He my stay

He tells me every care on him to roll:

He’s the lily of the valley,

The Bright and Morning star

He’s the fairest of ten thousand to my soul.

2. He all my griefs has taken, and all my sorrows borne;

In temptation He’s my strong and mighty tower;

I have all for him forsaken, and all my I dols torns

From my heart,and now He keeps me by His power.

Though all the world forsake me,

And satan tempt me sore.

Through Jesus I shall safely reach the goal:

He’s the lily of the valley, the

Bright and Morning star,

He’s the fairest of ten thousand to my soul.

3. He will never, never leave me, nor yet forsake me here

While I live by faith and do His blessed will;

A wall of fire about me, I’ve nothing now to fear

With His manna He my hungry soul shall fill.

Then sweeping up to glory, to see his blessed face

Where rivers of delight shall ever roll:

He’s the lily of the valley, the

Bright and Morning star,

He’s the fairest of ten thousand to my soul

Amen.
