RCCG Spends N40m on Free Bus-to-Work Scheme

The Redeemed Christian Church of God, Youth Province 1, has announced that it spent about N40 million on its free bus-to-work program, aimed at easing transportation challenges for residents across Lagos and parts of Ogun State.

The initiative, organized in collaboration with several other RCCG youth provinces, ran from November 24 to December 5, offering free morning and evening transportation on major routes. The church said the program was introduced to cushion the impact of rising living costs and the growing burden of daily transport expenses.

According to a statement released on Friday, the morning routes included Festac to CMS, Oworonshoki to CMS, Redemption City to 7UP, Redemption City to Sagamu, Redemption City to Victoria Island, Redemption City to Agege, and Ikorodu to Maryland. Commuters also enjoyed free return trips in the evenings.

This year’s edition deployed about 10 long yellow buses, which transported hundreds of passengers each day.

Pastor Oluwagbemileke Adeboye, Pastor-in-Charge of Youth Province 1, said the church revived the project after witnessing its impact last year. He explained that the gesture was meant to relieve the economic stress faced by many Nigerians.

“This initiative is our way of lending a hand to people,” Adeboye said. “Transportation has become a major concern, and we felt compelled to step in again, working with Youth Provinces 2, 7, 14, 18 and 20. It is open to everyone, regardless of background or religion.”

He added that the bus rides often became moments of prayer, encouragement and sharing of God’s Word as commuters prepared for their day.

The church leadership said many beneficiaries have expressed gratitude both in person and on social media, describing the buses as a timely intervention during a difficult economic season.

Youth Province 1 noted that it is also preparing for the RCCG Holy Ghost Congress scheduled for the second week of December.
