JABU Inducts 79 Students into Nursing Profession

Joseph Ayo Babalola University (JABU) has formally inducted 79 students into the nursing and midwifery profession. The event, which held on Friday, September 19, 2025, was the institution’s second induction and oath-taking ceremony. It took place at the Oba Oladele Olashore Auditorium, drawing staff, families, and dignitaries.

The Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Olasebikan Alade Fakolujo, urged the new nurses to uphold excellence, integrity, and service. He stressed that nursing goes beyond technical skill, describing it as a calling to serve humanity.

Out of the 79 inductees, 10 graduated with first-class honors. Each of the new professionals received four certificates: Registered Nurse, Registered Midwife, Bachelor of Nursing Science, and Competence in Entrepreneurship.

A keynote lecture was delivered by Prof. Christiana Olanrewaju Sowunmi, Dean of the School of Nursing, Babcock University. She spoke on “Navigating Your Path in Nursing: Opportunities and Growth Factors,” highlighting the importance of continuous learning and adaptability in the profession.

The ceremony also recognized Dr. Oyadiran Gifty Oluyemi Gboyesola, who was conferred with the title of Elder of Nursing in appreciation of her contributions to healthcare.

Representatives of the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria were present, with the Registrar and CEO, Alhaji Ndagi Al-Hassan, represented by Dr. Modupe Ayoola, officiating the induction.

The occasion reaffirmed JABU’s growing reputation as a leading institution in nursing education in Nigeria, equipping graduates with both professional competence and entrepreneurial skills.
