Erio Power explosion 2025: A brief history of Erio Mountain

Nestled in the quiet town of Erio in Ekiti State, Nigeria, lies one of the most revered spiritual landmarks in West Africa, the Mountain of Mercy. Known widely as Erio Prayer Mountain, this hallowed site holds deep spiritual significance in the history and identity of the Christ Apostolic Church (CAC) and the broader Pentecostal revival movement in Nigeria.

How Erio Became a Sacred Place of Worship

The origins of the mountain’s sanctity trace back to the powerful ministry of Apostle Joseph Ayo Babalola, the man widely regarded as the vessel God used to ignite the Pentecostal revival in Nigeria in the early 1930s. Historical records and oral testimonies reveal that Apostle Babalola was led to Erio during a time when the community was afflicted by a devastating disease. Through fervent prayer on this very mountain, healing came to the town, and the plague ceased.

Following this divine intervention, Apostle Babalola is said to have experienced a life-altering vision; he saw the Angel of the Lord descend upon the mountain and received a clear instruction from God: the mountain was to be consecrated as a place of answered prayers. From that moment, the mountain became a sacred altar of covenant between God and His people, a place of refuge, revival, and divine visitation.

The Annual Babalola Power Explosion Conference

In continuation of Apostle Babalola’s divine assignment, the Apostle Ayo Babalola Power Explosion was birthed in 2003. Held yearly at the Erio Mountain, this conference has grown into one of the most spiritually intense gatherings in Nigeria.

Each year, thousands of worshippers, pastors, intercessors, and revival seekers ascend the mountain to pray, fast, and encounter God in a deeper dimension. The event is not merely a conference; it is a revival movement focused on rekindling the fire of prayer, national awakening, and personal transformation. It serves as a prophetic reminder of Apostle Babalola’s covenant with God and the continued responsibility to stir up that divine mandate through generations.

What Makes the Erio Mountain So Significant

The uniqueness of Erio Mountain goes beyond its geographical features. It is:

A place of supernatural encounter: Countless testimonies have emerged from people who received healing, deliverance, and divine direction on the mountain.

A revival centre: Its history is steeped in spiritual warfare, national intercession, and groundbreaking miracles.

A covenant mountain: Unlike other prayer grounds, this mountain is tied to a specific divine instruction, a mandate to remain a beacon of answered prayers for the people of Erio and beyond.

A unifying ground for believers: People from different denominations come here to seek God, reinforcing the spiritual unity of the body of Christ.

The Legacy Lives On

The story of Erio Mountain is not just about the past; it is an unfolding narrative of God’s continued power in our time. Through the consistent obedience of leaders and intercessors, the covenant that began with Apostle Babalola remains alive today. The mountain stands as a testament that when God marks a place for His name, generations will continue to gather there, and His power will not cease.

As Nigeria and indeed the world face spiritual, moral, and societal challenges, sacred grounds like Erio offer more than religious comfort. They provide a call to return to prayer, holiness, and divine alignment. The fire on the mountain has not gone out. It still burns and it calls all who are hungry for God to come and experience the power that never fails.
