Paul Adefarasin Condemns Benue Killings: “Enough Is Enough”

The Senior Pastor of House on the Rock Church, Paul Adefarasin, has strongly condemned the recent mass killings in Benue State, describing the attack as “devastating” and “unacceptable”.

The assault occurred on the night of June 13 in Yelewata, a village in Guma Local Government Area. Reports indicate that over 200 people were killed in the gruesome incident. Many were reportedly trapped in their homes and set ablaze, while dozens remain missing. Survivors are struggling with injuries, and some still lack access to medical care.

Reacting to the tragedy, Adefarasin issued a heartfelt statement on Wednesday. He expressed deep sorrow over the loss of innocent lives and emphasised the need for urgent action from national leaders.

“There’s a grief that lingers when lives are taken so senselessly,” he said. “Children woke up to silence. Mothers are still searching for their sons.”

He stressed that such acts of violence must not be allowed to define the nation’s identity. “This is not who we are meant to be,” Adefarasin warned. “A nation that shrugs at injustice risks being consumed by it.”

While mourning with the victims, the pastor also delivered a strong message to those in power. According to him, silence or inaction in the face of such horror sends a dangerous message to the rest of the country.

“To the people of Benue, your pain matters. Your lives matter,” he affirmed. “We pray for healing, restoration, and justice; not just in speeches, but in real, measurable action.”

He concluded by urging both leaders and citizens not to turn a blind eye. “When one part of our nation bleeds, the whole must feel it. Enough is enough.”

The attack in Yelewata has reignited national outrage over rising insecurity in the Middle Belt region. As mourning continues, many Nigerians are calling for stronger government intervention to protect lives and restore peace.
