357 Students Bag First Class as Covenant University Graduates 1,879
Covenant University, Ota, has produced 1,879 new graduates at its 20th Convocation Ceremony tagged “The Release of Eagles 2025.”
The ceremony, held on Friday, October 10, 2025, celebrated academic excellence across undergraduate and postgraduate levels.
Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Timothy A. Anake, announced that 357 students earned First Class Honors, an increase from 339 recorded last year. A total of 841 students graduated with Second Class Upper, 410 with Second Class Lower, and 38 with Third Class Honors.
At the postgraduate level, 233 students were conferred with degrees, including 45 Ph.D. holders, 19 MBA graduates, 148 M.Sc. recipients, 18 M.Eng, and 3 M.A. graduates.
Prof. Anake praised the institution’s consistent academic growth and global recognition. He highlighted that Covenant University continues to set benchmarks for excellence in Africa’s higher education space.
According to the 2025 Times Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings, Covenant University emerged Number 1 in Nigeria, first in West Africa, 6th in Sub-Saharan Africa, and among the top 1,000 universities globally.

The University also topped the Africa 350 Private Young Universities Rankings 2025, securing 1st position in both Nigeria and Africa. In the THE Interdisciplinary Science Rankings 2025, Covenant ranked 1st in Nigeria, 1st in West Africa, 3rd in Africa, and 73rd globally.
The event was graced by key members of the University’s leadership, including the Chancellor and Chairman, Board of Regents, Dr. David Oyedepo, Pro-Chancellor, Pastor (Mrs.) Faith Oyedepo, and Secretary to the Board of Regents, Pastor Adebisi Aboluwade, alongside other dignitaries.
Covenant University, owned by the World Mission Agency (Living Faith Church Worldwide), continues to uphold its reputation as a center of academic excellence and innovation. The institution’s vision remains focused on raising a new generation of leaders equipped with spiritual depth, intellectual competence, and integrity.
Prof. Anake reaffirmed the University’s commitment to producing graduates who will shape industries, influence governance, and drive development across Africa and beyond.
